Hello Noctium-ers…Noctium-ees? I don’t quite know what we call our followers, maybe that’s something we can vote on later.
Anyway, I have been put in charge of doing our blog, *Fanfare sounds* and as the music director it seemed appropriate for the guy who is heard and rarely seen to do it. So here goes…
I know it’s been a while since our last post but here at Nocta-HQ we’ve been somewhat busy over the past few months, we’ve been having a little tour of ‘The Country Doctor,’ we’ve had a poster re-design and there’s even talk of a new show. How exciting!
So, where have we been? Well, after our successful run at the Belgrade theatre in Coventry over the summer, we’ve had a whistle-stop tour around the great and glorious Midlands. Our first stop was at Coventry University at the end of September, where we were graced by the presence of the new batch of first year students on the Theatre and Professional Practice course. We had done the same in 2015 and we were very kindly asked to do it again this year. This was followed a few days later with a trip to Wolverhampton where we performed at the lovely Arena theatre. This was our second visit here as we had been apart of the Pilot Nights they hosted back in October 2015 where we showcased our puppetry show, ‘Animate.’ Then, just a few weeks ago, we were in Mansfield where we performed at the Create theatre space, a fantastic building brimming with creativity. Our Co-artistic director, Connor Nolan, even had the chance to head up the day before our show and give a workshop on Physical theatre and Improvisation to the students.
With each performance we have received positive feedback and everywhere we’ve gone, there’s always been a reoccurring theme: “You need to take it to the Edinburgh Fringe.”
Hmmm, maybe one day…
Our next performance of ‘The Country Doctor’ will be in early December where we shall be heading down to London to perform for the students at Bexley Grammar school.
FUN FACT: Bexley Grammar was where we held our first workshop back in 2013 when ‘The Country Doctor’ was in it’s very first stages of production. Now we’re heading back three years later, with the final product.
‘The Country Doctor’ has changed many times over the years, whether it’s the cast, the story, music or our wonderful, new poster which was designed by the very talented Jamie Topp, ‘The Country Doctor’ has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 2013. As a company we are very proud with what we have achieved so far and we look forward to what the future brings. We are now at the early stages of working on a new show, sorry no spoilers just yet, but we are all very excited by the prospect of this.
So keep your eyes peeled, your ears to the ground and some spare change in your pocket (well it’s always good to have some) as we keep you up to date on all things Noctium.
